After a few months of hard work from our team, we are thrilled to announce the launch of our API!
What does our API do?
Without getting too technical, it’s a piece of code that allows you to dynamically pull and display content from our library on your site. It allows you to program what content to display and in which way. You can customize the API to best fit your needs, your website, and your audience. Still not clear? Let’s start with an example:
Let’s say you love the video clips that you find in our library and you would love to share them directly on your website. You can use our API to create a gallery that displays our clips on your site – and you can customize the way in which you do it too: a grid, a row, a single large clip – you can have it your way! The customization does not end there – you can then proceed to apply the same filters you see on our page to your gallery; including asset type, resolution, show only Free or only Premium clips (or both), display only videos with a particular licence, or whatever you would like to show to your visitors!
Once ready, your visitors will be able to see the gallery you have implemented on your page and interact with our clips. If they see one they like then they will be able to be redirected directly to that clip’s page on Videvo for download! The example below is from our partners at Freelance Video Collective, who wanted to offer a gallery of free B-roll footage to their community.
Here are a few other ideas of uses for our API:
- Do you have a website teaching video editing? You could integrate the Gallery to offer your visitors a gallery to browse and download stock footage for their projects.
- If you own a website about drones, you can integrate it as a neat gallery to share drone footage from our library with your visitors.

An API has to be coded, and for that we’ve put together a documentation page that will help you build your gallery. If you don’t have the time or resources needed to fully code your API we have also put together a Gallery Builder. This offers you a friendly interface that allows you to customize a gallery and generate a ready-to-use code with just a few clicks! You’re welcome to explore the Gallery Builder and poke around with it.
Works with our Affiliate program
Another bit of good news is that our API is fully compatible with our Affiliate program. You can apply to be an affiliate partner and plug in your affiliate link into the API. In this way all clicks on your API gallery will be tracked, and clicks that end up subscribing to our Premium Plans within 30 days will generate a commission for you! You don’t need to be an affiliate to use our API, but the option is always there.
Did we also mention that our API is 100% free to use? That’s another great reason to take advantage of this new tool today!
